William P. Berger, 83, of 1729 E. Elm St, husband of the former Clara Turner, died Friday in State General Hospital where he had been a medical patient since March 22.

Son of the late Henry and Henrietta (Haunstein) Berger, he was born in Scranton and was an motor mechanic for the G. W. Brown Trucking Co. 38 years prior to his retirement in 1958.

Mr. Berger was a member of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church, and the Maj. E. J. Poch Post, American Legion. He was an Army veteran of World War I.

Other survivors are two sons, W. Thomas of Denville, NJ and Daniel C. of Elmira Heights, NY; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Weller and Mrs. Benjamin Sammon of Elmhurst, PA, and Miss Bertha Berger, Scranton, PA; a brother, Edward, Scranton, PA; and seven grandchildren.

The funeral will be from the Arther E. Strauch Funeral Home, 603 Birch St, Tuesday at 10:30 am.

The Rev. John B. Earl, Petersburg Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Internment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of Petersburg Presbyterian Church.
