As of the 1880 U.S. Census, Kate had six siblings whose names were Etje Ida, William (aka Willem), Marretje Mary, Jan, Jantie Jennie (aka Jane) and Minnie (aka Jacomina). William was 20 years of age and worked on the farm. Mary was 15 and at school. Jane was 10 and at school. Kate was 6 and also at school and Minnie was 2.
Etje Ida, William, Marretje Mary, along with their parents, were born in Holland, The Netherlands. Jan, Jane, Kate and Minnie were born in Michigan. So, between the years 1864 and 1867 the family must have moved from The Netherlands to the United States of America and settled in Olive, Ottawa Co., Michigan
As of the 1900 U.S. Census Kate and Cornelius were living with their 6 year old son, Albert and Cornelius's brother, John at 312 W. Broadway, Walker Township, Grand Rapids City, Michigan. They owned their own home. They had two children but unfortunately one had passed away.
By 1906 Cornelius, Kate, their son Albert and their daughter Leona were living at w Thirty-second R F D 3, Holland, Michigan, U.S.A.
By the time of the 1910 U.S. Census, the family was living in Fillmore township, Allegan County, Michigan.
By the time of the 1920 U.S. Census, Cornelius and Kate Rooks were living in San Francisco, Ca. They lived at the Hotel Irwin, 108 4th St., San Francisco, Ca. The Hotel no longer exists but was located at approximately on or near the corner of 4th St. and Mission St. By this time their son Albert was married and their daughter Leona was in Holland, Michigan with her uncle John and cousin Helene Vanderlinde.
By the 1930 Census Cornelius and Kate were living in Los Angeles, Ca. at 625 W. 56th St.
Kate was a housewife.
Kate is buried along with her husband Cornelius, son Albert, daughter Leona, daughter-in-law Gertrude, son-in-law Benjamin and grandson Albert Jr. in a family plot in Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, Ca.
