March 14, 1917:

In Memoriam.

At the very begging of the bright new year, the death angel claimed the spirit of Mrs. Jennie Thrash.
In her young womanhood, Mrs. Thrash sustained an irreparable loss in the death of her young husband and only child, a tiny babe.
For many years she made her home with the family of her brother, Mr. J. L. Bullock. The love and kindness of these loved ones compensated her in a great measure for her early loss.
Hers was a long and useful life. While her disposition was somewhat shy and diffident, so that one had to know her well to love her best, her friendship, which once bestowed was lasting as the eternal hills.
Mrs. Thrash was afflicted by blindness sometime before her death. But she was tenderly ministered to by loving hands.
It was with sincere regret that I learned of the passing of this good woman, whom I was proud to number among my friends. I can truly say that faithfulness was her watch word and loyalty and devotion the lamps that guided her feet. Though gone from us we will always cherish her memory. Gladdened by the affections of her friends, sustained by her steadfast faith through our Lord in the hope of glorious resurrection, she has entered the life beyond, and to her was given the fruition of the promise.

"At eventide, it shall be light."
