John Elbert Simmons, Sr., age 62, of Globe passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center. He was born in Reydell, Ark. on Aug. 3, 1949, the son of Thelma R. (Nelson) and Andrew J. Simmons.
John was a member of the Church of the First Born in Queen Creek, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Simmons.
John leaves behind in loving memory his wife of 33 years, Linda R. Simmons of Globe, Ariz.; four children, Jamee Swisher of Canton, Ohio, Kimberly Gillen of Los Angeles, Calif., John E. Simmons, Jr. of Globe, Ariz. and Kristel Solis of Globe, Ariz.; his parents, Andrew and Thelma Simmons of Queen Creek, Ariz.; one brother, Andrew A. Simmons, Jr. of Queen Creek, Ariz.; five sisters, Sandra Smith of Mesa, Ariz., Linda Rainwater of Claypool, Ariz., Ethel Ann Morich of Apache Junction, Ariz., Cherry Wadley of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Brenda Kay Kegabine of Glendale, Ariz.; and 11 grandchildren.
Services for John Elbert Simmons, Sr. were held on tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011 at Miles Funeral Services Globe Chapel, 237 S. Sutherland Street, in Globe, Ariz.
Interment was at Pinal Cemetery, Central Heights, Ariz.
Funeral arrangements for John E. Simmons, Sr. were entrusted to Miles Funeral Services Globe.
