ELKTON, Md. – Herman B. Witwer, 72, of 310 W. Main St., died on Thursday in Union Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Witwer owned and operated the old Bridge Street Restaurant for 14 years, then worked as a clerk at the William B. Merrey and Son Co. wholesale house for eight years until his illness forced him to retire.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie D.; three sons, David H., at home, Jerry C. of Robesonia, Pa., and Harold R. of Reading, Pa.; a daughter, Audrey J. Colpreto of Reading; seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 this afternoon at the Gee Funeral Home, 259 E. Main St., with burial in Elkton Cemetery."
