Carl J. Nichols, age 91, of Highland, IN, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2003.

He is survived by his daughter, Janice (Walter Esther) Williams of Schererville; two grandchildren: Jamie (Eric) Wolverton and Daniel Williams, both of Florida; two great-grandchildren: Ryley and Owyn Wolverton; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Hoogewerf of Schererville and Ann Hoogewerf of Lansing, IL; and brother-in-law, Jack (Letha) Hoogewerf of Griffith; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Grace Nichols, Jan. 6, 2003.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 2828 Highway Ave., Highland, Indiana with Rev. Richard Bawinkel officiating. Burial, Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, 3 to 9 p.m.

Mr. Nichols was a retired carpenter of Local #1005. A veteran of the U.S. Army 773rd Field Artillery of WWII and a member of the Highland VFW Post #1109.
