Rev Boggs moved from Ohio to Iowa where he served as pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Independence, IA from 1858 to 1869. He served the Jesup, IA Presbyterian Church in 1871. A colleague of time said of Boggs, “A scholarly, talented man, sympathetic and wise as pastor and counsellor. Public spirited. Spiritually strong. Thoroughly evangelical, a good preacher. A clergyman of the old school, solid type.”
