Mr. D. Paul Hodge of Elkin passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was 81.
Mr. Hodge was born in Surry County on Nov. 27, 1929, to Herbert and Jettie Cox Hodge. Paul was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond Hodge, Troy Hodge, Coy Hodge; and three sisters, Hazel Brown, Faye Hester, Ruth King.
Survivors include his wife, Verlie Mae Hodge of the home; two sons, Lanny Hodge and his wife Kathy of Dobson, Jerry Hodge of Elkin; a brother, Harvey Hodge; four grandchildren, Shannon Hodge, Matthew Hodge, Lanna Lucas, Adam Hodge; several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church held by Dr. Danny Dodds and Dr. Gary Byrd. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
