Ruth Evelyn Kelley, the daughter of Conrad and Thelma (Parker) Waidelich, was born November 16, 1926 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 8 days. Ruth was raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from Omaha North High School in l944. Following graduation, Ruth worked for two years at the Union Pacific Railroad Headquarters. Ruth was united in marriage to Marcus Herzberg on November 13, 1945 in Clarinda, IA. In 1946, they moved to Mt. Vernon, Washington, and when Marcus passed away in 1947, Ruth moved to Hastings, Iowa in 1948. Ruth was united in marriage to Dwight Kelley on August 12, 1948, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Dwight and Ruth made their home in Hastings where they farmed in the Hastings and Red Oak areas. Dwight passed away on October 12, 1969. In 1972, Ruth moved to Red Oak and began a 28-year career with Houghton State Bank, retiring in 2000. Ruth enjoyed many hobbies: traveling all over the world, planting and tending to her flowers gardens and bird watching. She loved to play cards with family and friends. Ruth held a special place in her heart for missionaries and was a strong supporter of mission’s efforts. Ruth was preceded in death by husbands: Marcus and Dwight; son: Larry Kelley; and brother: Louis. Ruth is survived by two daughters: Mayrus Helberg and companion Don Alderson of Bellingham, WA; and Connie Lucotch and husband Jerry of Great Falls, MT; 8 grandchildren: Troy Jones, Jeff (Donna) Jones, Jamie (Rachel) Davis, Kelley Lucotch, Lori (JJ) Kelley, Tiffany Gleason, Pat (Lolly) Kelley, and Anna Kelley; 9 great-grandchildren: Brittney, RyAnn, Cole, Darian, Logan, Paige, Maya, Isabella, Patrick; great-great-granddaughter: Kylee; daughter-in-law: WuXi Kelley of Duluth, GA; brother: Frank Waidelich of Clear Lake, WA; brother-in-law: Jim Kelley and wife Joyce of Holiday Island, AR; sister-in-law: Deloris Adams of Washington; special friends: Rose Marie Shaw and family, and Deanna Viner; other relatives and friends.
