She married (1) Ansley A. MEREDITH on 18 Dec 1856 in Caldwell Parish LA, and (2) Joseph Monroe MAY on 26 Nov 1868 in Caldwell Parish LA. Her first husband, Ansley MEREDITH, died during the Civil War in 1863 and is buried near Sarah.

Sarah and Ansley had three children: (1) Ella C, (2) Lucynthia R, and (3) Thomas Ansley "Dutch" MEREDITH.

Sarah and Joseph MAY had four children: (1) Robert Mathew "Bob", (2) Irby Benjamin, (3) Obediah Doss, and (4) Maudie Caladonia "Callie" MAY.
