Obituary originally published in the 27 Feb. 1902 issue of "The Somerset Press," then reprinted on pg. 50 of Vol. 31, Issue 4 of the Perry County Heirlines, newsletter of the Perry Co. Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society:

Effie L. daughter of Samuel and Phoebe A. Foster, was born May 5, 1883, and died Feb. 22, 1902, aged 18 years, 9 months and 17 days. She was united in marriage with Virgil Gordon on June 24, 1900. To this union was born one daughter. She was baptized at the age of 10 years and united with the Christian Union church at Centerville in January, 1899, and lived a consistent Christian life. She suffered severe pain for ten months previous to her death, bur bore it all in a spirit of cheerfulness. And demonstrated her willingness to go home, telling her friends not to weep for her as she would soon be at rest and free from pain. She leaves a devoted husband and little daughter, father, mother, one brother and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. The funeral services were held on Feb. 24, conducted by Rev. Lamp, of Newark, assisted by Rev. Mitchell of Oakthorpe.
