MARTIN, William Melvin, Sr., D.D.S., 54, of Roanoke, crossed over on Tuesday, June 15, 1999.

He was a member of the Cave Spring United Methodist Church and an Army Veteran of Vietnam. He had practiced dentistry in Roanoke for the past 27 years.

Dr. Martin was a graduate of Davidson College and The University of Tennessee Dental School. He had served on the board at Bethany Hall and was honored by the Rescue Mission with the Mission Possible Award.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Olie Martin. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Martin; one daughter, Catherine Martin of Williamsburg; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Susan Martin of Raleigh, N.C.; son, Ned Martin of Roanoke; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Ann Martin of Midland, Mich.; nephews, Ben and Matthew Martin.

Funeral services will be conducted from Cave Spring United Methodist Church, 11 a.m., Friday, June 18, 1999, with the Rev. William C. Logan officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel, Thursday 7 to 9 p.m. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Cave Spring United Methodist Church, 4505 Hazel Drive, Roanoke, Va. 24018 or Bethany Hall, 1109 Franklin Road, Roanoke, Va. 24016.
