Phillip M. Traeger, 85, of Williamsville died Friday, June 27, 2003, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. He was born May 1, 1918, in Albany, Minn., the son of George and Agnes Widman Traeger. He married Doris Borkgren in 1946 in Geneseo. Mr. Traeger was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from United Mine Workers in 1983 after 20 years, working for Freeman United Coal Co. and Buckheart Mine in Canton. He was a member of Farmington American Legion Post 140, United Mine Workers, Bonsai Club in Peoria and St. John Vianney Church in Sherman. Survivors: wife, Doris; a daughter, Wendy (husband, George) Ross of Bloomington; a son, Mark (wife, Naomi) Traeger of Williamsville; three granddaughters; two brothers, Anton (wife, Marcella) Traeger of Albany, Minn., and Inglebert (wife, Olga Traeger of Arlington Heights; and two sisters, Marie Brambrink of Foley, Minn., and Cecelia Donovan of El Monte, Calif. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, St. John Vianney Church, Sherman, Monsignor Eugene Costa officiating. Burial: Walnut Hill Cemetery, Williamsville. Mott and Henning Funeral Home in Athens is in charge of arrangements.
