Final Rites Held Sunday Afternoon For Mrs. Martin
Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Martin, Paradise, who passed away at her home Wednesday evening, were held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Paradise high school auditorium. The Reverend C.A. Kemp conducted the rites and interment was in the Mt. Herman cemetery with the Pohlman Funeral Service in charge.
Mrs. Martin had been in ill health for some time following a fall which resulted in a broken hip. She was confined to the Russell for a time before being returned to her home.
Clara Esther Beers was born at Glasco, Kansas, April 7, 1874, and passed away September 10, 1947, at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 3 days. She was united in marriage to Wylie W. Martin on March 22, 1905 and to this union were born two children, Ivy Grace Herman of Denver, Colorado and Harry T. Martin, of Pensecola, Florida.
She was reared in a parsonage home, her father bing a minister in the United Brethren church. Early in life she embraced this faith, and after her marriage to Mr. Martin and moving to Paradise, Kansas, she united with the Baptist church and was a faithful adherent to the cause of Christ until her passing. As long as health would permit, Mrs. Martin gave unstintingly of her service to friends and neighbors in the time of sickness and sorrow. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Paradise.
Besides her husband and two children, she leaves to mourn her passing two brothers and one sister; Chas. E. Beers, Caldwell, Idaho; Geo. E. Beers, Whittier, California; and Mrs. Harriet Doty of Greeley, Colorado; besides a host of nephews, nieces and friends. She will long be remembered by her deeds of love and kindness.
The deceased was a sister-in-law of Mrs. Clarence Kappel of Simpson.
