Robert E. McPheron, 86, died at 10:35 p.m. Nov. 19, 2007, at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Allen County to Harold Joseph and Mary Catherine Foley McPheron, who preceded him in death. He married Frances Marie Stowe, who survives in Lima. They had just celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Mr. McPheron ran the restaurant and club room, during the 1950s, at Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, where he was also a member. In the 1960s, he bought the Bar Pastry Shop, was the food services manager at Lost Creek Country Club and then purchased the Clemens building. He finished his career as the restaurant manager at the Plaza Restaurant Union 76 Truck Stop. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Lima, and the American Legion in Louisville, Colo. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 2nd Battalion, 164th Infantry Regiment, 23rd Infantry Division "the Americal Division."

Survivors also include two sons, Michael J. (Judy) McPheron, of Louisville, Colo., and Robert D. (Cindy) McPheron, of Lima; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph McPheron, of Findlay; and a sister, Marguerite Riepenhoff.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Talitha L. McPheron; two daughters, Lynne Linet and Mary Hobbs; a brother, Mark E. McPheron; and a sister, RoseMary Casey.

There will be no public services or visitation. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Gethsemani Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to blind or disabled veterans.

Arrangements are by Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
