O. M. BAILEY IS DEAD; RETIRED B. & O. ENGINEER

The death of Oliver M. Bailey, a retired Baltimore & Ohio locomotive engineer residing in Garrett at 713 South Lee street. took place unexpectedly at Sacred Heart hospital Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock.

Mr. Bailey, who was 72 years old, had been in fair health. He lost his balance and fell on the rear porch of his home on Christmas day. He was taken to the hospital for X-ray examination the following day and it was found that no bones were broken. He seemed to be improving when he died suddenly from a heart attack.

Mr. Bailey was born Nov. 19, 1871, in Franklin county, Ind.. and entered the employ of the B. & O. in Garrett in 1900 as a fireman. He was promoted to engineer in 1904 and retired six years ago.

He and Rose Dunlap of Marion, Ind., were married in 1895 and she died fourteen years ago. In December, 1930, he was married to Mrs. Myrta Ginder of Garrett.

Surviving besides the widow are three children by the first marriage, Clayton M. Bailey of 201 East Houston street, Garrett, who is director of the railroad department of the state public service commission, Mrs. Flossie Greenhurry of St. Louis, Mo., and Miss Ruth Bailey of Santa Monica. Calif.; two step-children, Mrs. Helen Farnsworth of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mrs. Ruth Miller of Kendallville; one sister, Mrs. Joseph Bright of Marion, and one brother, Jacob Bailey of Summitville. Ind. Mr.

Bailey was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

The funeral was held at the residence Saturday afternoon, the Rev. D. J. Dunkin of the First Baptist church officiating, and interment was made in Calvary cemetery.

The body was removed from the hospital to the Forrest D. Zimmerman funeral home and was taken to the residence Thursday.
