Nina Leah Adams was born the only daughter of John G. and Agnes Englehart Hohstadt on February 25, 1883, and departed to her reward March 27, 1965, at the age of 82 years, one month. Her entire long years had been lived in the community where she was born and grew to womanhood.
On December 25, 1907, she was united in marriage to John William Adams, who preceded her passing, on January 29, 1963. She leaves to mourn her demise, two sons, Olin D. of St. Louis and Stanley C. of Arbela; two daughters-in-law; three granddaughters, Karen of Kirksville, Jeanne of Memphis and Nancy of Cape Girardeau; and one great granddaughter.
She was also preceded by two brothers, Arthur and Cleo Hohstadt, for whom in her youth she had assumed the duties of making a home, due to the passing of bother her parents, while the boys were still in their teens.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, receiving her Savior when a young girl, and had served her church willingly and lovingly in many capacities throughout the years. She loved her Lord very deeply and faithfully served as long as health and strength permitted. She had been in failing health for some five years and had been seriously ill for one month. Although she had suffered greatly, she will be sadly missed by her community, her church, her family and friends.
Services were held from the Methodist Church at Arbela, Monday, March 29, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Frank Barnett officiating. Burial was in Memphis Cemetery. Body bearers were: Earl Drake, Marion Aylward, Wayne Hohstadt, Otto Kice, Arlo Trueblood, and Eldon Dice.
