Binkley of Waxahachie and a step daughter, Mrs. Hattie Jackson of Marshall. She also has a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Helping her celebrate her birthday will be members of her family and close friends dropping by to wish her a happy birthday and enjoy birthday cake and ice cream.
She was born in a hand hewn log house near Harris Chapel in Panola County July 28, 1871. She was married in the same log house to Silas H. Holtzclaw, also of Panola County, who died in 1922.
Mrs. Holtzclaw has always lived simply, worked hard to rear and educate her family. She especially enjoyed gardening and cannng the winter's supply of food. She has spent many wintry evenings piecing quilts and quilting them.
She was active in her church until her retiring years when her health would not permit her to attend. She is the oldest living member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Panola County. The pastor and a group of members from this church recently visited her, honoring her as their oldest member.
In her declining years, she enjoys the radio and always looks forward to reading the paper. She never misses a Sunday evening radio broadcast of services of the First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Holtzclaw is fondly called Granny Holtzclaw by children and adults alike, though they are only friends.
