U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Reinhardt Normal College, in 1895, from the law department of Cumberland University Tennessee, in 1897, was admitted to the bar in 1898 and commenced the practice of law in Moultrie, Georgia. He moved to Pensacola, Florida, in 1906, where he continued to practice law and was involved in local politics. In 1919, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-sixth Congress and to the next three succeeding Congresses, serving until 1927. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he engaged in the real estate business until retiring in 1932.
