The daughter of General and Mrs. M. D. Ector, Helen Marian Ector was born in Marshall, Texas on January 30, 1868. She married William Joseph Hutchinson on January 3, 1895 in Marshall, Texas and they moved to Shreveport early in their married life. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Shreveport. Two of her three daughters predeceased her: Adeline died of typhoid fever in 1910, Dorothy Hutchinson Cheesman died in 1918 of Spanish influenza. Her surviving daughter was Marian Hutchinson Jackson of Shreveport.
