J.T. Browning, 80, of Macon passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at Capital Regional Medical Center in Jefferson City. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Immaculate Conception Church in Macon, with Father Dave Veit officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Macon. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Macon with a Rosary service at 4:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 4:45 p.m. J.T. was born May 7, 1931, in Redmon, the son of Francis Murl and Joannah Davidson Browning. He was united in marriage to Ramona Maloney on Aug. 28, 1953, in Macon County. J.T. was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus and assisted with the Perpetual Adoration for 22 years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War and was stationed on the USS Tarawa aircraft carrier. J.T. enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, cooking, golfing, playing cards, going to the lake and water skiing and was an avid sports fan. J.T. was generous and kind and devoted to his family, friends, church and country. J.T. is survived by three daughters, Katherine Sue Dorson and husband Roger of Jefferson City, Mary Jane Browning of Jefferson City, and Jennifer Renee' Bray and husband David of Jefferson City; eight grandchildren, Benjamin Dorson and wife Sandy, Katie Chitwood and husband Tim, Rachel Dorson, Aimee Briggs and husband Lerone, Jessica DeLine, and fiance Charlie Christiansen, Josie Bray, Samuel Browning Bray and Drew Ramona Bray; nine great-grandchildren, Jackson Dorson, Carly Dorson, Quincy Dorson, Ryder Dorson, Isaiah Briggs, Xavier Briggs, Lanee Briggs, Lily Chitwood and Isabelle Chitwood; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ramona, on Dec. 15, 2010; and one brother, Bobby Browning.
