George Cornett Cade was born in Lancastershire, England, August 21, 1837. In 1854, when 17 years of age, he came with his mother to the United States, settling at Upland, Pa. On July 19, 1858, he was married to Miss Emily S. Chalfant of Delaware county, Pa. In September, 1864, he enlisted in Battery C, Second Illinois light artillery, serving until the close of the war. He was converted to Christ when between 19 and 20 years of age, uniting with the Baptist church. He had been actively identified with Baptist interests and work until his death. Wednesday, February 25, 1903. Mr. Cade removed to Reno county, Kansas, in October, 1873, of which he was a be*** and respected citizen. He leaves a wife, two sons and three daughters to mourn is loss. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Smiley, after which the body was laid to rest in Abbyville cemetery.
