W. Heyward Graves, 66, a former magistrate of Bluffton and retired Beaufort County Forest Ranger, died Monday at a Savannah hospital.
Funeral services were Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the St. Luke Methodist Church at Prichardville. Burial was in the church cemetery, directed by the Ridgeland Funeral Home.

Mr. Graves was born in Bluffton, a son of the late William C. Graves and Daisy Skinner. Before retiring Jan.1, he served 32 years as magistrate for the Bluffton township in Beaufort County. He was also with the SC Forestry Commission as a ranger for 22 years.

Surviving are: his widow, Mrs. Katherine Davis Graves of Bluffton; three daughters, Mrs. Peter N. Nansen of San Jose, CA, Mrs. Franklin Altman of Siler City, NC, Mrs. Harley Mills of Beaufort; two sons, William H. Graves Jr. and Lloyd H. Graves both of Bluffton; three sisters, Mrs. Gladys G. Merritt of Charleston, Mrs. Lois G. McGarvey of Bluffton, Mrs. Ruth G. Holland of Atlanta, GA; four brothers, George Graves of Omaha, NE, Tample Graves of Charleston, Edgar Graves of Savannah, Rep. J. Wilton Graves of Bluffton; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
