Charles I Benham, 88, who had been in the mercantile business in Amenia for more than 50 years, died at his home Tuesday night. Born in the town of Washington, July 22, 1857, he was the son of Jonathan and Phoebe Deuel Benham. Survived by a son, Charles M, Danbury, Ct; granddaughter Helen Wheaton Benham, brother David. His wife, Mrs. Ruth Mead Benham, died April 23, 1927
