Mary K. (Adams) Thomas of Lewisville, Texas passed away October 1, 2011 in her sleep at age 89.

She was born in Marion, Ohio, the first child of Martin Taber Adams and his wife, Bernice Holverstott. Her childhood and early education were in local schools, leading to a college degree at Denison University, Granville, Ohio. World War II made her entry into the job market easier as the male chemists were enlisting and women suddenly had a place in industry.

After ten years at Union Carbide in South Charleston, West Virginia, where she met and married her husband, E. Ivan Thomas, she was a full time wife and mother of two sons, Clifford and Bruce. Later with a Masters Degree from West Virginia University, she taught chemistry and physics at South Charleston High School for seventeen years. During that interval she traveled extensively worldwide and gave travel talks upon return. After the death of her husband in 1987, she enjoyed retirement community living at Edgewood Summit in Charleston, WV. She moved to Texas in 2006 to be near her only living son. Her second son, Pastor Bruce E. Thomas, died in 2000. Until the last few months, she lived at Lewisville Estates.

Survivors are her son, Clifford T. Thomas and his wife, Ruthanne, Lewisville, TX; and three granddaughters, Gwen Tevis of Santa Barbara, CA, and Kirstin and Britta Thomas, both of Missoula, MT. Her only sibling, a brother Clifford T. Adams, died in 1998. Her companion in recent years has been a classmate from elementary school days in Marion, Ohio, James L. Chaney, Scottsdale, AZ.

Her headstone is in place beside her husband's in the Holverstott plot at Marion Cemetery, Marion, Ohio. She is the fourth generation interred there.
