OBITUARY.
Died–At his home in Winchester, Kan., Aug. 27, 1888, Goldman Stewart. The deceased was born in Casey county, Ky., Jan. 22, 1807, and was hence 81 years of age at the time of his death. He located in Pulaski county, Ky., in the year 1819, and was married to Nancy Wiler [Whiles], his first wife. Of this union there were born four children; George B., Thomas J., Serena J. And Berthena. His first wife died March 1836. He was married April, 1837, to Margaret Davenport, the consort who survives him to mourn his departure. Of this union there were born to them four children, Isaiah, Mary Ann, Elizabeth and Henry. Bro. Stewart removed from Kentucky to Platt county, Missouri, in the year 1865, and in 1881 removed from there to Winchester, Kansas. In early life he united with the Baptist church and remained a member of that church till 1857 when he united with the Christian church of which church he remained a worthy member at the time of his death. Soon after coming to Winchester he united with the Christian church being an Elder of the same when he died. He ever lived a consistent and devoted Christian life and died in full hope of a glorious immortality in the presence of our God. He leaves an aged wife, several children and a host of friends to mourn his departure. We commend the bereaved family to God and the word of his grace. Sorrow not as those without hope.
