Funeral services for Dorothy Baller, 90, of Independence, Mo., will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery. Mrs. Baller died Friday, April 26, at Independence (Mo.) Regional Health Center.
Dorothy Gwendolyn Jensen Baller was born Aug. 12, 1911, in Blair to James Peter and Ora Odessa (Carter) Jensen.
She was raised in the family home on Park Street, where they lived for 45 years.
At the age of eight years, she was baptized by Elder Robert Whorlow, a member of the Community of Christ Church, formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Her early education was in Blair at Blair High School and at Dana College. She received both a bachelor's and a master's degree from the University of Nebraska, and taught in Omaha for five years.
In 1941, she married Warren Robert Baller. The couple had three children: William Warren, John Timothy and Elizabeth Claire.
Mrs. Baller is survived by a daughter-in-law, Janet, of Utica, N.Y.; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Lynne Baller of Sioux City, Iowa; and daughter, Elizabeth Clark of Independence; five grandchildren; and two-great-grandchildren.
Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
