Willie Sanders Dabbs, age 84 years, passed away Monday, at his home in the Harmony Community following a long illness. Mr. Dabbs was a member of one of the most prominent families of Clarke County and had been active in business, religious and civic affairs. He was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church and he served as Superintendant of the Sunday School for twenty years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Clement Hardin of Meridian and Mrs. Nelson Jones, Gulfport; 7 sons, D. N. Dabbs, New Albany, A. N. Dabbs, New Orleans, G. F. Dabbs, Quitman, O. D. Dabbs, Gulfport, W. E. Dabbs and C. T. Dabbs, Hattiesburg; 3 sisters, Mrs. Lida Shoemaker and Miss Hal Dabhs, New Orleans and Mrs. Callie Winston, Memphis. Several grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held, Tuesday afternoon, 3:00 o'clock from the Harmony Baptist Church with Revs. Deb Stennis, Hardy Kennedy and W. R. Meadows officiating. Interment followed in church cemetery. Active pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased, Willis Earl Dabbs, Frank Dabbs, O. D. Dabbs, Jr., Hardy Dabbs, Jr., Billie Dabbs and G. F. Dabbs, Jr.
