OBITUARY

This community was saddened to learn of the passing of Mrs. Otis Archer Sunday morning. She had been gravely ill for several days and her death had been expected momentarily. She had not enjoyed good health for a period of several months before her passing.

Mrs. Archer was a citizen of this county nearly all her life and during that time made a large number of friends who sincerely mourn her death. The following is a history of her life read at the funeral services held Monday:

Ella Nora Kendall, daughter of Vochel and Mary Goff Kendall, was born in Lynn county, Missouri, September 8, 1867 and departed this life at her home near McDonald, Kansas April 5, 1941 at the age of 73 years 6 months and 28 days.

The family moved to Rawlins county in 1880 where she lived all the remainder of her life.

She was united in marriage to Otis Archer July 14, 1895 in Atwood, Kansas. To this union were born two children, one son who died in infancy in November 1902 and Harry E. Archer of McDonald. The first home of the Archers was in Blakeman where they lived for about five years when they moved to McDonald and established a home which was broken by death after forty years.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband Otis Archer, her son Harry Archer his wife Esther and two grandchildren, Arlie and Ross Archer, one niece Mrs. Dorothy Pickett of the home. Also she leaves two brothers, W. S. Kendall and C. P. Kendall of Atwood, Kansas, two sisters her twin, Mrs. Dora Short of Goodland, Kansas and Mrs. Bessie Warren of Galena, Oklahoma, besides a large number of other relatives and many friends.

She lived a quiet unselfish life full of good works and kindly deeds.

Now she has gone to another land
And none her place can fill.
We cannot touch the vanished hand
But her spirit is with us still.

Funeral services were held at the house Monday afternoon at 2:30 in charge of Rev. J. S. Coppoc.

CARD OF THANKS
We wish to express our sincere appreciation for the many acts of kindness, the expressions of sympathy and the flowers received during our recent bereavement.
