His obituary incorrectly calls him Albert instead of Adelbert.

The death of Albert Chase Barnum took place very suddenly Sunday, June 16th, at 7 a.m. at the home of his sister, Mrs. Homer Hannah at Middlefield Center where he had made his home for the past five years. Mr. Barnum was one of the oldest and best known residents of that community, a man of sterling worth and highly respected by all. He was the oldest of a family of seven children of Almira Chase and Sylvester W. Barnum having been born in the town of Middlefield not far from the Center on July 12, 1840. He had spent practically his entire life in that locality. In politics he was a staunch Republican but he took no active part in public affairs having possessed a quiet, genial nature which made friends of all with whom he came in contact. Besides the sister above mentioned, he is survived by two brothers, ex-Judge J.W. Barnum and S.W. Barnum of Cherry Valley. The late Mrs. Andrew Davidson of Cooperstown was a sister. Interment is in the family plot in the village cemetery. (The Otsego Farmer, June 21, 1918)
