Clarence E. "Tank" Byington, Sr., 98, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 22, 2010, at Bristol Hospice House in Bristol, TN.

Born in Hawkins County, Tank had been a resident of Kingsport for most of his life, and was a lifetime farmer. He was of the Baptist Faith and attended Glenwood Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cora Byington; second wife, Goldie Byington; daughter, Mary "Betty" Cox; sons, Clarence Byington, Jr. and Kenneth Byington; parents, William and Eva Robinette Byington; six brothers, Hubert Byington, Robert Byington, Worley Byington, Ray Byington, Garney "June" Byington, Earl James Byington and sister, Elvi Henegar.

Survivors include his son, Hubert H.L. Byington and wife, Mary of Cleveland, TN; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; step-children, Shirley Tolliver of Abingdon, VA and Harold Kinnard of Kingsport and several nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Morning Star Cemetery, Church Hill, TN (Hawkins County) with Pastor J.W. Depew, officiating and providing the music.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Byington family.
