Sharon Rose Wilkinson Akers, 58 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, October 1st, 2011 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
Sharon was born on February 21st, 1953 in Danville, Illinois, daughter of Versa Morgan Adkins and the late Kenneth E. Britt. She was a homemaker, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and of the Baptist faith.
Sharon was survived by her loving husband, Eddie Akers of Somerset, Kentucky; one son, Tony Wilkinson of Attica, Indiana; one daughter, Sherry Shelley of Veedersburg, Indiana; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; six brothers, Denny Britt, Kenny Britt, Sonny Britt, Michael Britt, Larry Britt, and Harley Britt; one sister, Sheryll High; her step-father, Cecil Adkins; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Britt; one son who was stillborn, Chad Wilkinson; one brother, Tom Britt; and one sister, Darneda Gaines.
Visitations were held on Wednesday, October 5th, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 5th, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Burial followed in the Union Christian Cemetery in Fountain County, Indiana.
