Funeral services for Samuel Luther Morgan,79, were held at the Park Presbyterian Church at 10:00am Monday 9-13-1954. Interment was the Italy Cemetery. Mr.Morgan died at 8:50pm , Saturday after more than year of failing health. He was born at Marengo,Ala.,May 7,1875, and came to this vicinity in 1896, spending most of his life in the Hamrock community. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was married to Miss Lillie Pearl Gentry 1902 and they were engaged in farming for 56 years. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Everett Morgan of Dallas, Newton J.(Bud) Morgan of Lubbock, and Herman Morgan of Italy; two sisters, Mrs. Bettie Elizabeth Morgan Jones of Mertens(married: Charles H.Jones) and Miss Gladys Morgan of Italy; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Floyd Green, Alton Chambers, E.G.Green, Ralph Jenkins, Guy Cantrell and Jim Myers.
