The remains of Thomas J. Bell were brought to Clark’s Hill yesterday morning at 8 o’clock and the last rites were conducted in the Methodist church at 9 o’clock. Rev. M. H. Appleby, of Lebanon, officiated, and the interment was made in the Union cemetery. Mr. Bell died at his home in Lebanon on Saturday evening at 6:45 o’clock. He had been ill for six weeks and his death was caused by brain trouble. He was 56 years old and leaves a widow and the following children: Tull, Earl, Ottis, John, Sarah and Ruth Bell. Mr. Bell was educated at Valparaiso and was considered one of the best mathematicians in the county. He lived at Clark’s Hill for a number of years and moved to Lebanon about four years ago. He taught school at Stockwell, Clark’s Hill and Buck Creek and was principal of the high school at Buck Creek last winter. He engaged in surveying during the vacation and made several races for the office of county surveyor, but never was elected to that office. He was a man of strong individuality and character and was admired by all who knew him.
