MAYETTA -- Larry Owen Jenkins, 59, Mayetta, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at a Holton nursing home.

Mr. Jenkins was a manager for Artic Cold Storage in California and Nevada. He had worked for the Payless Distribution Center in Topeka for the past three years. He also was an Army veteran.

He was born Feb. 7, 1943, in Holton, the son of John A. "Tiny" and Hazel O. Hughes Jenkins. He graduated form high school in Baldwin Park, Calif. He moved to Mayetta three years ago.

He married Rita Gleason in California. They were divorced.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Jenkins, in California, and David Jenkins, Columbia, Mo.; a daughter, Shannon Thompson, in Maryland; two sisters, Norma Baldwin, Holton, and Judith Smalley, West Covina, Calif.; two brothers, Delmus Jenkins, Mayetta, and Gerald Jenkins, Holton; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holton Cemetery in Holton. Mr. Jenkins will lie in state from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the NorthEast Kansas Multi-County Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home.
