Donna M. Riippi, 85, of DeKalb, Ill., died Oct. 1, 2011, at Pine Acres Rehab & Living Center, DeKalb.
Born Jan. 3, 1926, in Bushnell, Ill. the daughter of George and Margaret (Hoeft) Allen, she first married Clayton Adkins and later Ray Riippi.
Donna was employed as a clerk for Wayman's Ace Hardware and later for Lehan Drug Store. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in DeKalb, enjoyed crafts, bowling, baking and was a Brownie Troop leader for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Jan (Tom) Rutherford of Sycamore; two grandchildren, Tom II (Heather) Rutherford of Sycamore, Lindsey (Andy) MacDonald of DeKalb; two great grandchildren, Dalton Rutherford, Jackson MacDonald; her sister, Verba Ester of Normal; her step-children, Gary (Adrianne) Riippi of Sycamore, Ron (Charleen) Riippi of DeKalb, Sue (Kevin) Riippi-Adams of Elgin; six step-grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, two nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clayton Adkins and Ray Riippi; her daughter, Linda Kay; one sister, two brothers, and a step-grandson.
The family memorial graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Donna M. Riippi Memorial Fund, in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 S. Fourth St., DeKalb, IL 60115.
