Donald "Don" W. Abegglen, 83, Stetsonville, died on Sunday, Aug. 21 at House of the Dove in Marshfield, where he had resided the past four days, under hospice care. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 25 at 11 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stetsonville, with Rev. James Babler officiating. Burial will be at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Stetsonville. Pallbearers are Eric Abegglen, Blake Dums, Daryl Schrader, Dale Abegglen, Jim Brown and Gary Schoenike.

Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.

Donald Abegglen was born on March 25, 1928 in the Town of Deer Creek to the late Albert and Lydia M. (Ploekelman) Abegglen. He attended Pleasant Valley School in the Town of Deer Creek and was a graduate of Medford High School.

On October 3, 1959 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, he married Mildred M. Habeck, who preceded him in death on June 1, 2004. He owned and operated a dairy farm with his brother, Alvin, from 1959 until his retirement in 1990.

He was a lifetime member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Men's Club, and was on the church council. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Greg (Marilyn) of Medford and Jeff (Beth) of Stetsonville; a daughter, Lisa Dums of Stetsonville; three siblings, Adeline Schoenike of Waukesha, Alvin (Genevieve) Abegglen of Stetsonville and Janet (Marvin) Schrader of Sheboygan; two sisters-in-law, Ivadeane Abegglen of Colby and Aggie Habeck of Oshkosh; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Babcock of Wellsville, N.Y., Christina Abegglen of Horicon, Dana (significant other Mike Snyder) Dums and Blake Dums, both of Stetsonville, and Eric Abegglen and Amy Abegglen, both of Medford; and one great-granddaughter.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon.
