MOCKSVILLE | James "Jimmy" Vernon Starr, 56, of Deacon Way, died Friday morning, Jan. 21, 2005, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.


The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Darrell Cox. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington.

Mr. Starr was born Nov. 12, 1948, in Davidson County to the late James Roy and Odessa Taylor Starr. He was a self-employed housing contractor. He was a graduate of Lexington Senior High School, Class of 1967, and a graduate of Piedmont Bible College. At his church, he served on the bus ministry. He enjoyed all types of sports. During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his wife, Darlene Yokeley Starr of the home; one daughter, Leslie Williams and her husband, Scott, of Trinity; one stepdaughter, Jessica Tutterow of Advance; one stepson, Kyle Tutterow, also of Advance; one granddaughter, Taylor Williams; one sister, Cathie Streetman and her husband, Eddie, of Lexington; a special aunt and uncle, Lucille Frye and Ralph Starr, both of Lexington; a special nephew, Jesse Tripp; and a special niece, Nicole McLemore, and her husband, Michael, all of Lexington.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Eaton Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the gym fund at Trinity Baptist Church, 2722 Highway 601 South, Mocksville, N.C. 27028.
