Macie Davey passed away peacefully on May 10, 2006, at her daughter's home in Orem, Utah, where she had resided for the past 10 years.

She was born in Harrisville, Utah on May 4th, 1913, to Henry McCullough and Edna Cole, the 5th of 13 children.

Her strong work ethic was developed early on their family farms in the Rigby, Idaho area.

She married Guy Hargrave and they had 2 children, Joan and J. Davis.

After this marriage ended, she married George Davey, a widower with 3 young children. She and George were sealed in the Idaho Falls temple in 1965.

Macie's life was filled with loving service to family, friends, and all those with whom she came in contact. She was an excellent bookkeeper and used her talents to serve her beloved city of Menan, Idaho, as their treasurer for 28 years. One of her most memorable opportunities to serve came with the Teton Dam disaster in 1976. She helped prepare meals for 200-250 people twice a day for 17 days. For this service, Macie was awarded a commendation from the Governor of Idaho.

Macie had many talents, including cooking, sewing, and quilting. She spent countless hours hand-quilting beautiful quilts for her family. Macie's life was filled with illnesses and physical challenges, yet she continued to work and live a life of service to others. Despite undergoing 17 major surgeries, she rarely complained and truly endured her challenges well.

She is survived by two sisters, Enid Jensen of Rigby, Idaho, and Ada Dalke of Chico, California; her daughter Joan Gunnell of Orem, Utah, her son J. Davis (Ruth) Hargrave of Kirkland, Washington, a daughter Iva Lou (Joe) Thornock of Idaho Falls, Idaho, a son Marvin (Gloria) Davey of Lacey, Washington, and a son Merlin (Chris) Davey of Petaluma, California; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Davey, and her beloved son-in-law, Reid Gunnell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 15th at the Heatheridge 4th Ward Chapel, 620 E. Heather Road, Orem, preceded by a viewing from 9:30 to 10:45. Interment will be in the Annis, Idaho cemetery alongside her eternal companion George.
