PEKIN, IL - Marie A. Hilst, 86, of 1325 S. 6th St., Pekin and formerly of 31841 E. CR 2150 N. near Manito, passed away at 10:55 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL.

She was born Aug. 2, 1925, near Emden the daughter of Forris and Adele Thaller Altine. She married Melvin ‘Bud' Hilst on Dec.22, 1945, in Pekin. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1999.

Also preceding her in death were three sisters and four brothers.

Surviving are two daughters, Joyce (R. Tim) Jacobs and Melanie (Ron) Matthews both of Pekin; two sons, David Hilst of Pekin and Tim Hilst of Green Valley; five grandchildren, Anita (Tim) Ryan, Richard Jacobs, Mark Matthews, Michael Matthews and Chalise Jones; eight great grandchildren; and one brother, Louis P. Altine of Georgia.

Marie was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Manito and attended St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pekin. She also belonged to the VFW Auxiliary Post #1232 in Pekin. She enjoyed spending time with her family and always looked forward to spending Fridays with her sister-in-law Pearl ‘Sis' Kelly.

Interment will be in Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito.
