KENNETH C. CAHAN'S OBITUARY READS AS FALLOWED:

Kenneth C. "Casey" Cahan, 85, of Ocean Springs, Miss., formerly of Kankakee, died Sept. 11, 2011. He was born Sept. 10, 1926, in Kankakee, the son of Charles and Sadie Reniche Cahan.

A celebration of life service was held for Kenneth Sept. 25. Burial was in the Biloxi Veterans Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 2755 Bensenville Blvd., Ocean Springs, Miss., 39564.

Kenneth joined the Merchant Marines at the age of 17 and served on troop ships at the end of World War II and the Korean War. He was a commander of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Omaha, Neb. He worked in sales and sold electronic components in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Ken was a licensed captain and had a tour boat on the Missouri River.

He and his wife retired to Ocean Springs, Miss., in 1991, where he was known throughout the area as captain of "Lil Toot," his beloved little red tugboat. He was an active member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Ocean Springs and served as head usher of the church for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Corine; daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and Michael Moriarty; three grandchildren, Shane, Shannon and Kenneth, all of Victor N.Y.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Jeanette Remillard, of Kankakee, and Evelyn and Mario Buono, of Bourbonnais; and one sister-in-law, Connie Cahan, of Pasadena, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Merle and John; two sisters, Carolyn Moberg and Doris Diefenbach-Greene; and three brothers-in-law, Hubert Remillard, Duane Mau and Richard Moberg.
