Gerald F. Witte was born on October 29, 1927 in Kankakee, Illinois to George and Ada Brown Witte. Witte moved from Wabash, Indiana to Anderson, Illinois in 1965 and retired in 1984 from conrail, after 30 years.He was a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church of Kankakee Co., Illinois. he served in the US Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post 127. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris G. Piper (Witte), of Anderson, Illinois; one son, Brian Witte, of Anderson, Illinois; two daughters, Brenda (husband Mike) Owens of Anderson, Illinois and Barbara (husband Mark) Miller of Corpus Christie, Texas. He is survived also by nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one brother and many nieces and nephews.
