Miss Elizabeth W. Evans, for twenty-six years, connected with Franklin post office, died about 9:00 a.m. Saturday at her home on Fourteenth street due to heart disease. Found dead in bed at 10:00 by a member of the household. Had been ailing for nearly a year and a half. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Evans, born in Franklin where she spent her entire life. Entered post office when D. D. Grant was mayor, in 1886, and continued until December 28, 1911, when failing health compelled her to give up her work. Served under Mr. Grant, J. E. Adams, D. W. Morgan, E. W. Smith and J. R. Dodds. Appointed assistant postmaster under Mr. Morgan's second term, held until 1911. Post office in four locations during this period - Exchange building, Printz building, Hancock building and Franklin Trust company building. Only immediate surviving relative is Fred P. Evans, brother, of Franklin. Funeral at residence Monday afternoon at 2:30 and interment in Franklin cemetery.
