Doxtater, Peter - He was taken prisoner in the French and Indian War when he was about 4 years old. He was treated kindly and learned their habits, modes of warfare and forgot his native tongue. At the close of the war he was returned to his parents. Because of his knowledge of Indian warfare, a bounty was placed on his head. He later received a pension for his service. He married (1) Elizabeth Cunningham in 1751. She died 15 Sep 1829. He married (2) Susanna (---) who died 28 Apr 1833 at 63 years. He married (3) Innocent Hurlburt. He came to Adams in 1802 with his wife and six children. They came up the Mohawk River in a flat boat, thence to Oneida lake, through Wood's Creek to the Oswego River, to Lake Ontario to Big Sandy Creek and inland 2 miles.
