Michael died while serving with the United States Army in Iraq. A native of Dubuque, he graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 200O. On Sept 5, 2002 he enlisted in the Army. After he completed basic training at Fort Benning, GA he was stationed in Buedingen, Germany. He was then sent to Iraq. He died from injuries sustained when the armored personnel carrier he was riding in was struck by an explosive device.
