Florence Mae Mills was born February 19, 1886, in the family home at Artensian and Fulton in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Her parents were John and Mary (Gillard) Mills. Florence went to Hayes Grade School. After finishing high school she was a switchboard operator at Illinois Bell Telephone Company. Florence Mae Mills met Karl Ernest Koberstine while on a boat trip to Michigan with his brother Bernie. On June 25, 1910, Florence Mae Mills married Karl at the home of her parents. Marriage was performed by Rev. Joshua B. Martin of 2323 Fulton Street, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. When she got married she quit her job.

Florence was a stay at home mom.

Florence "Flo" moved in with her daughter Mildred Bolen's family after Karl's death. Florence "Flo" died October 10, 1956 of cancer. She was buried at the Glen Oak Cemetery in Hillside, Cook County, Illinois.
