DAVID (POP POP) BACHTEL, 54 of Verdunville was born on March 18th at Holden, WV. A son of Betty Lou Maynard Bachtel and the late Hager Bachtel of Verdunville, WV. Also preceding him in death was his in- laws, Jimmie and Myrtle Webb Johnson.

David passed from this earth to the arms of GOD on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at around 1:30am at home with his family and friends by his side.

He was a disabled employee of Laurel Creek Coal Company, having worked as a Maintenance superintendent and he has also worked for Marrowbone Development, Kedco, Elkay, and Island Creek Coal as a Chief Electrician.

He was an active member of the Maryetta United Baptist Church at Verdunville, WV. He has served as a Deacon, Trustee, Assistant Sunday School Teacher and sang with the Maryetta Ambassadors.

Surviving are his wife of 31 years 10 months 11days Hilda Marie Johnson Bachtel: Two daughters Mrs. Angela Nicole (Jeff) Adkins and Mrs. Cheryl Lynn ( Chris) Nichols of Lexington, KY. Four grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Ethan Adkins, Juliet, Gabriel, and Mallory Nichols. One sister Mrs. Kathy (Sheridan) Taylor of Verdunville, WV.
Services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, May 29th at the Maryetta United Baptist Church at Verdunville, WV with Rev. Lonnie Gore Jr. and Rev. Barney Goins officiating.
Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Friends may visit at Honaker Funeral on Saturday, May 28th from 5 to 8pm.

Pallbearers will be fellow workers. Mike Chapman, Dean Fuller, Joe Deskins, Ronnie Ooten, John Armstrong, Dennis (Tink) Dillow and a lifelong friend Rick Adkins.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons and Trustees.
In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to the Maryetta United Baptist Church.
