Joye is predeceased by her parents, Nell and Jesse Oates, and her sister, Jessie Jane Barziza. She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughters Peggy McGinty and husband, Milton, and Patricia Bacot and husband, David; sons Mike O'Donnel and wife, Glori; and Jim O'Donnel Jr.; sister, Betty Latham and husband, Raymond; and brother (nephew), James M. Oates and wife, Debbie. Her grandchildren include: Danny McGinty, Joanne, Jeffrey, Taylor, Ann, and Phillip Bacot, Allison Livingston, Lauren and Blake O'Donnel, and Ashley O'Donnel. She also leaves nine great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Dot Norton, brother-in-law Dick O'Donnel, and dear friend Alice Coughlin. Father Bruce Noble provided spiritual counsel during Mrs. O'Donnel's hospitalization.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until half-past seven o'clock in the evening on Sunday, the 2nd of October, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where a recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at half-past seven o'clock.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at half-past ten o'clock in the morning on Monday, the 3rd of October, at Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church, 7809 Shadyvilla Lane in Houston, where the Rev. James Ramsey, Pastor, and the Rev. James Talmadge Moore are to concelebrate.
Honored to serve as casket bearers during Monday's services are Danny McGinty, Jeffrey Bacot, Taylor Bacot, Phillip Bacot, Blake O'Donnel, Col. David E. Bacot, and Brett Livingston.
Immediately following the mass, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent St. Jude Hall.
At the conclusion of the reception, an escorted cortege is to depart for Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, where all may gather with the family for the Rite of Committal.
For those desiring, and in lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in memory of Mrs. O'Donnel may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
