Obituary, Messenger-Inquirer, Sunday 26 July 1964: "John Hurm, 81, of route 3, Owensboro, died
at 9:30 P.M. Saturday at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital after an illness of several months. He was born
at Fulda, IN, Aug 28, 1882, and had lived in the Rome section of Daviess County many years. He had
made his home with his son, Hubert Hurm, for the past two years., he was a member of St. Martin
Catholic church at Rome.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Hilda Horsman of Indianapolis, IN, Mrs. Stella Clark of Daviess
County, Mrs. Rosa McKay of Stanley, Mrs. Helen Summers of Owensboro; eight sons, Linus Hurm
of Evansville, IN, Hubert Hurm of Philpot, Charles Hurm of Mobile, AL, Richard Hurm of
Owensboro, Leo Hurm of Xenia, Ohio, John E. Hurm, James William Hurm and Thomas Hurm, all
of Indianapolis; 57 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Hurm of Owensboro.
The body is at the Delbert J. Glenn Funeral Home."
