ST. ANTHONY, Ida. — Mrs. Adelia Secrist Powell, 57, St. Anthony, died Thursday night in a local hospital of rheumatic heart disease.

She was born April 10, 1890, at Parker, a daughter of Heber Nephi and Adelia Smith Secrist. Her grandfather, Thomas S. Smith, was a founder of Fort Lemhi mission in Idaho, of the St. Thomas settlement of Moapa valley, Nevada, and pioneer of the Upper Snake River Valley.

Her other grandfather, Jacob Foutz Secrist, was one of the first Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints missionaries in Germany in 1852. He returned to the United States and served as captain of a wagon train en route to Utah. He died on the plains near Laramie, Wyo., July 7, 1885.

Mrs. Powell lived in childhood at Parker, and in 1906 was married to Cleve Powell in Parker. She was active in L D S auxiliary organization for 13 years. She managed the Ben Franklin store in St. Anthony.

Besides her husband, two daughters and a son survive. Harold Powell, Mesa, Ariz., Mrs. LaRue Scranton, San Francisco. Cal., and Mrs, Rula Edwards, Bosie; a sister and two brother's, Mrs, Effie Miller, St. Anthony; Jess Secrlst, Pocatello, and Vernon Secrlst, Minneapolis, Minn.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday 2 p.m. in the Parker L D S chapel by members of the ward bishopric. Burial will be in the Parker cemetery. Friends may call at the Hansen mortuary until time of services.
